The electric revolution has arrived in Nelson and Tasman as 17 state-of-the-art FOTON Pure EV Buses hit the streets. The much-anticipated EV Bus Launch event, held in Nelson CBD, was graced by esteemed guests, including Nelson Mayor Nick Smith, Nelson MP Rachel Boyack and Minister of Transport, Hon Damien O’Connor. This significant milestone marks Nelson as the first city in New Zealand to transition to a fully electric bus fleet, and the FOTON Bus NZ team couldn't be prouder of this accomplishment.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Tony and Tim Cummins of Nelson Suburban Buses for their commitment to sustainable public transportation. This momentous transition represents a game-changer for the people of Nelson and Tasman, offering a new and eco-friendly era of public transport with FOTON.

The newly launched eBus service is set to elevate the region's public transportation experience. The fleet of 17 electric buses is accompanied by 100 new bus stops and three additional routes, including a daily express service to Motueka. Notably, passengers can now enjoy a dedicated bus route connecting Nelson to the airport, enhancing accessibility and convenience for travelers. This transformative service is aimed at addressing regional congestion and fostering sustainable mobility choices for residents. It complements ongoing investments in walking and cycling infrastructure, collectively working towards alleviating traffic congestion and providing eco-friendly alternatives for the community.
